I honestly think the way she handled the tiny reporter was perfect because even though they may not have been a wire service, her comment would've made the rounds somehow.

She has every right not to answer questions from reporters, even if they're 9!

Yeah, but how in depth could a question from a child reporter be? I just think not answering questions asked by young children makes her seem a bit like a "mean old meanie", as my seven year old son says.

I don't know, those nine year olds are pretty sneaky. He was probably working undercover for The Times.

I mean come on - how bad has it gotten that she can't answer a 9 year old's question? It really says alot about the media's spinning of everything that comes out of a person's mouth that Chelsea had to deny a response.

Treating those kids like they're real reporters was the best way to handle the situation. I'm sure the kids felt like they were actual reporters and to treat them otherwise doesn't help them.

I don't see anything wrong with it. If she has a "no comments to the press" policy, then it doesn't matter that they're kids. Where else do you draw the line...? I don't speak to reporters unless they're children, disabled or elderly...? I mean, seriously. It does make her look a little mean, but anything else would be fairly condescending.

Are you all serious? This is as bad as sports stars charging for autographs or only signing a sportscard if it's made by a specific company. It's a CHILD asking the question. She's an ass in my book.

Hey Trix! If it was just a couple of kids with questions, I would totally agree with you. But, they were student reporters. And they were going to write an article using her comments. That makes it different, IMO.

Chelsea has a long-standing policy of not talking to reporters. She's in a different position than most of the other candidates' children because she has been in the spotlight for so long. I say she should stick to whatever makes her comfortable.

It would have gotten out, and no matter what she said it could get taken out of context, and she has a right to do what she is comfortable with.

The people shouldn't have sent a kid on this mission without first seeing if she'd speak to them. She has a no media policy, and I think she has handled herself very gracefully for the positions she has been placed in.

I agree w/ everyone else's comments. Her policy is her policy. And if anyone has a right to not deal with the press it is Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea began living in the White House at age 12. Don't you remember that awful hair and overbite. Who else had their formative years covered as much as she did on the international news. I remember feeling so sorry for her; especially when Monica-gate started. The entire country should just lay-off Chelsea. My 2 cents.

I think it depends on the questions. If they were: What's your favorite color? Or where do you like to visit most? Then she should have answered.

If they were asking: What is your role in your parent's campaign? Or why should my Mom vote for your Mom? that's a little different.

i thought she handled the situation really well. she wasn't mean or disrespectful to the kid reporter in any way, and if she has a no press policy, she has a no press policy. yes it was a child asking the question, but her answers still would have gotten out. i think it's kinda cool that she stuck to her guns.

I don't know if I could resist a little reporter. I think she should have given him a break. Especially for Scholastic news, a great kid's magazine.

I totally agree with her. She is probably the only person I have ever seen really be in the spotlight and have their privacy. She treated the kids with respect and as equals. At least she was still nice enough to sign autographs
