Texts and Tunes: Pat the Bunny

This week is Children's Book Week and to kick it off, we wanted to feature an old classic that makes us smile. You probably remember it from your childhood and will also enjoy reading it to your lil ones.

Pat the Bunny ($10) has been in print for 67 years and has sold over six million copies.

This modest book is simple, but remarkably entertaining for infant to preschool aged children. Patting a fuzzy white bunny and sniffing a bouquet of flowers, keeps tots stimulated from beginning to end. And, reading, "Paul and Judy play peek-a-boo. Can you play peek-a-boo with Paul?" never gets old.

Warning: All the patting, smelling, and tugging that goes on while enjoying, you might want to stock up on a couple copies. Babies like to eat the bunny, too.

My new conditioner smells like the flowers in this book. I put it in my hair and was flooded with memories from childhood.

ahh, I had to sign in just to comment on this book. I was really happy when I saw it because it holds a special place in my heart not only because my parents read it when they were little and read it to my brothers and sisters when we were little, but because my mom and dad's names are Paul and Judy!

I've never heard of this one before. I'll have to take the boys on a library trip and see if we can't find it.

My daughters loved and destroyed three copies of this book. It is great to see their little uncoordinated fingers work on the pages. I remember when my older daughter was able to get her finger through the mummy's ring! She was so happy with herself.

My childhood copy had passed from my oldest cousin, to her little sister, to my big sister, and then to me. By the time I got it the mirror was smudged up beyond use, the flowers had lost their smell, and the spine was starting to go. I loved it nonetheless. I recently bought a copy for the first b-day of one of the kids i babysit. Maybe I'll get to smell the flowers sometime. Eye-wink

i have to say...i love this book except for the "smell" of the flowers - made in China as well so I do not entirely trust the scent around my baby...sorry
