I'm pretty sure it was Dada with the boys. They both said Dada before Mama anyway, and I'm pretty sure it was their first word.

My daughter said Mama first. Of course, that only lasted about two days.

2 said "dada" first and the other "mama". i think i remember reading that the "d" sound is easier for the little ones to make.

Well, since I don't have children and can't remember what my other cousins' first words were I can tell you my twin cousins' first word was Yanick (my sister) and MaMa. My first word was bread or daddy.

i have no kids yet, but my nieces first word was "Hot" because that is what we said to her when she was around us holding coffee.

my daughters first word was "cat" and now she says "book", "quack" and "ball" no mama OR dada...still waiting!

I don't know what my older brothers' first words were but I know mine and my sisters:

hers: hi

My son is babbling mama and dada all of the time, but they aren't directed at us yet, so it doesn't really count. But I'm pretty sure one of the two will be his first real word. I know mine was kitty, or so I'm told by my mom.

My lil guy's first word/phrase was "uh-oh" shortly followed by "wow".

My boy's first word was "Ball"..

One of my twin nephews said 'Dada' and the other said 'ball'.

Mine was here, then kitty. I wanted that cat so bad. My mom tells me I out of the blue just yelled "HERE KITTY!" and then sat there. I have no children yet, though.

My brother-in-law's first words in english were "french fry". Everything else was in korean, so we're not too sure what it was. He still loves french fries.

My son will babble mama and dada, but not directed at us either so I don't think those count. So I would think his first word is agua. He says it all the time when he wants us to give him his sippy cup. And he does say "ba-ba" to be bye-bye.

I am sad to say I am not really sure what my son's first word was. He said mama, dada and book all about the same time. I think he would repeat "amen" after we prayed at night too, but it took me a while to figure out what he was saying. I am going to need to check my son's baby book to see if I wrote it down. He's not even two and I'm already forgetting!

My oldest girl's first word was "duck." I was giving her a bath and I wasn't sure she'd said a real word, but sure enough--her focus was right on her rubber duckie as she said it.

Her next word was "dog" and though you'd think maybe "dada" would be next, it was actually "mama."

I'm curious to hear what my youngest one's will be.
